He wrote on every subject, including politics, literature, fine arts, sociology, film. Sattar Tahir had a firm belief in democracy. During Zia-ul-Haq's martial law, very few people dared to do what he wrote. He even went to jail for it. As the editor of the fortnightly \"Qafilah\", he wrote several memorable articles against the hanging of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, which were published in the form of special issues of Qafilah. Later, these were also published in book form. Among them, Zindah Bhutto Murda Bhutto, Suraj Bakf and Shab Gazida, and the White Paper of Martial Law are particularly noteworthy. Sattar Tahir was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Excellence by the President of Pakistan and the Democracy Award by the PPP government. The International Islamic University awarded him a certificate of honor in recognition of his contribution to children's literature.
