He received his primary education from Kotwal and studied from class IV to FA at Islamia Inter College, Bareilly. This college came into existence due to the educational movement of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. During his youth, the Pakistan Movement was in full swing in Bareilly. He also heard the inspiring speeches of Attaullah Shah Bukhari, Zafar Ali Khan and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in 1942. After completing his Masters in Urdu in 1949, he joined the Teacher Training College at Aligarh Muslim University. Here he got the opportunity to benefit from teachers like Dr. Zakir Hussain, Dr. Hadi Hassan, Dr. Khwaja Ghulam-ul-Saideen, Professor Rashid Ahmed Siddiqui and Professor Habib-ur-Rehman. He was greatly influenced by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan's movement and the Pakistan Movement. He set foot on the soil of Pakistan on June 11, 1950 and was associated with the Military College Jhelum as soon as he arrived here. He retired from service in 1990 and remained the principal of Army Public School Jhelum and Mangla Cantt for the next four years. He was the director of the Islamabad Tameer-e-Millat Institute of Education Research. He was also the director of Character Building and Pakistaniism at the Sultana Foundation, Islamabad. He was a teacher as well as an excellent historian. Dozens of his books are still popular today. Pakistaniism and character building were filled in them.
