Jawahir al-Tajweed: Urdu Guide to Quran Recitation

جواہر التجوید by Qari Abdul Rahman is an Urdu guide to the rules of tajweed and correct Quran recitation. This 112-page, single-volume book introduces essential terminology, articulation points and the characteristics of Arabic letters, with examples drawn from the Quran.

Study pronunciation and tajweed rules

Jawahir al-Tajweed explains makharij, the points from which letters are pronounced, with illustrations to support learning. It also discusses the sounds and attributes of letters, helping students connect written rules with the pronunciation they practise under a teacher's guidance.

The book covers lahn and its types, idgham, madd, hamzah, waqf and saktah, along with Quranic pause signs. These topics make it a focused resource for learners who want to study the principles behind accurate recitation rather than rely on a basic alphabet primer alone.

Topics covered

• Introduction to tajweed and its terminology.
• Lahn, or recitation errors, and their categories.
• Illustrated makharij and the characteristics of Arabic letters.
• Rules relating to idgham, madd and hamzah.
• Waqf, saktah and Quranic pause signs.
• Quranic examples to support the explanation of rules.

Keep the book beside you during a tajweed lesson, review the relevant rule and return to its examples as you practise. It is suitable for students and teachers seeking an Urdu reference for structured Quran-recitation study.
