Musnad is the plural of Musanid. In the terminology of the Muhadditheen, “Musnad” is a book in which all the hadiths narrated by a single companion or companions have been collected together with their name. And the person who narrates a hadith with his chain of transmission is called “Musnad”. The book in question is “Musnad Ibrahim bin Adham”, a subtle compilation of the great Imam, Muhadditheen Ibn Mandah (d. 395 AH). Ibn Mandah has collected the narrations of Sultan al-Zahedin Ibrahim bin Adham in this book. This collection is short but full of benefits, consisting of 51 hadiths. Maulana Abu Anas Muhammad Sarwar Gohar, may Allah protect him (of Kasur), has adapted Musnad Ibrahim bin Adham into Urdu. And Hafiz Muhammad Fahd Sahib has undertaken the task of writing a scientific commentary and useful footnotes, which has doubled the usefulness of the book.
