American author and spiritualist Sylvia Celeste Brown (1936–2013) was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She began having visions (prophets) at the age of five, and her grandmother helped her understand the meaning of these messages. Sylvia began holding spiritual séances in 1974. In 2008, she was charging $750 for a twenty- to thirty-minute telephone session. In 1986, she founded a ‘Gnostic Christian Church’ in Campbell, California, known as the Society of Novus Spiritus. In 2010, Sylvia’s business manager said in an interview that Sylvia had an annual income of $3 million. She has written over forty books on spiritual topics. She has appeared frequently on many television and radio programs, including the Montel Williams Show and Larry King Live, and has also hosted the one-hour Hay House Radio show on the radio. During these shows, she often demonstrated her spiritual abilities. In 1991, she starred in Haunted Lives: True Ghost Stories. She then appeared on the CBS television soap opera The Young and the Restless in December 2006. These programs helped her grow as a true medium. In 2007, the list of people seeking telepathic contact was four years long. Several of her books have been on the New York Times bestseller list. Sylvia Browne died on November 20, 2013, at the age of 77. She received renewed media attention seven years after her death when social media users claimed that her predictions about the coronavirus in her book "End of Days" (2008) had come true.
