Surah Yusuf is the 12th Surah of the Holy Quran, which narrates the story of Prophet Yusuf. This Surah was revealed during the last period of the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Mecca. Surah Yusuf is the only Surah in the Holy Quran that is unique and outstanding in its style, arrangement and beauty. The entire Surah contains the most important aspects of Sayyiduna Yusuf's life, chastity and purity, and pure character and character. The book under review, “Al-Jamal Wal Kamal Tafsir Surah Yusuf” is the work of Qazi Muhammad Sulaiman Salman Mansoorpuri, a well-known biographer of the Indian subcontinent. Qazi Sahib performed Hajj in June 1921 and remained in Mecca until August. Qazi Sahib started writing the commentary of Surah Yusuf on the same day and completed the commentary of this Surah on August 22, 1921 in about two months. He wrote the last ten to twelve pages of the commentary on the ship on his return and the last twelve to fourteen pages contain brief accounts of the famous people who have been mentioned in the commentary. In this commentary, Qazi Sahib has mentioned the entire history of Egypt, its rivers, canals, newspapers up to the time of writing, mountains, pyramids of Egypt, important personalities. And he has mentioned the various governments and rulers there in order. The language and style of the commentary is very good. A study of this commentary shows that if Qazi Sahib had written a commentary on the entire Quran, he would have been a great biographer as well as a great commentator. Qazi Sahib died on the ship on May 30, 1930, while returning from the second Hajj pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Maulana Ismail Aznavi, who was on the ship, led his funeral prayers and his body was left to the waves of the sea. May Allah Almighty grant Qazi a high position in Paradise. (Amen)
