Although the history of religions is as old as the history of man himself. From the Islamic point of view, when Allah Almighty sent Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) to earth, He elevated him to prophethood and messengership, and thus religion began. Other historians agree that since man settled on this earth, some belief, ideology and religion existed according to his environment. In the history of humanity, countless ideas were born, countless beliefs came into existence, and many religions spread, but in the known history of man, which is approximately from four thousand to five thousand BC, the religions that gained world fame and made a lasting impact on humanity include the following religions: (1) Hinduism (2) Buddhism (3) Jainism (4) Zoroastrianism (5) Sikhism (6) Judaism (7) Christianity (8) Islam. Regardless of the fact that due to the lack of the divine system of mission (i.e., prophethood and rasulullah) in non-revealed religions, they could not find the way and the original teachings of Judaism and Christianity among the inspired religions could not be protected from the ravages of time. However, all the teachings of Islam are not only safe and secure, but are also forever applicable and guarantors of welfare, without the restriction of speech and place. The book under review, “The Great Religions of the World,” is a very informative and fact-finding book. The author has, with great insight and diligence, conveyed the history, teachings, ideologies, and priorities of the aforementioned religions in the style of writing. This is no less than a gift for the discerning eye. The fact that it is published by the famous and reputable printing and publishing house of Pakistan, "Book Corner", enhances its importance.
